Ann Dodd is the assistant dean for strategic initiatives in the College of Agricultural Sciences at Penn State University, where her responsibilities include strategic planning, implementation of strategic initiatives, and the administration, assessment, and improvement of the college's graduate programs. Working at the intersection of resident education, research, and extension, she collaborates with faculty and external stakeholders to identify new audiences and opportunities for new programs. Her research and teaching interests include conflict communication, innovation and change, leadership, and quality management.
Prior to joining the College of Agricultural Sciences, Ann served for five years as a senior consultant in Penn State's Office of Planning and Institutional Assessment. She joined Penn State in 1999 after five years at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she last served as executive assistant to the vice chancellor and director of institutional effectiveness.
Ann is an accreditation evaluator for the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, and was a member of the 2000 Board of Examiners for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. In 2003 she was named a Joseph M. Juran Fellow in recognition of current scholarship and career promise in pursuit of Quality and Systems Thinking.
Ann holds the Ph.D. in communication arts and sciences from Penn State, as well as an M.S. degree in higher education and a B.S. degree in family services, both from Iowa State University.
